Dahlonega Weekend!!!

Last week involved a lot of rest after our weekend trip to DC! I didn't have to travel for work which was nice.
But it's definitely a lot harder to rest with a crawling baby on your hands!
Tyler is getting faster by the day. I basically have to chase him around the house 24/7. But it's great that he is so intuitive and full of energy! This weekend Nana and Papa came to town to babysit little Tyler and had a blast with him. They had not seen him crawl or pull up yet so they loved every minute that they got to play with him!
Friday night Ben and I had family night with Tyler, but Saturday we hit the road to Dahlonega, GA with our friends Mike and Roberta!
Now many of you may be asking...where the %$&* is Dahlonega?
Well, it's waaaayyyyy up in the mountains of North Georgia and it's truly beautiful.
Mike and Roberta got a weekend getaway to Achasta Resort through a silent auction and invited us to go! We stayed at a beautiful 3 bedroom golf villa with breathtaking views! After lunch at the clubhouse, the boys headed off for their 1pm tee time, while Roberta and I ventured back to the villa to get ready for our winery tour. We were picked up by bus and driven tho three wineries...Three Sisters, Frogtown, and Blackstone! We had the best time! We met some friends on the bus ride and split many bottles of wine! We met the boys for dinner in downtown Dahlonega for some yummy dinner (well, what I remember of it was quite tasty)!
Sunday morning we had lunch and headed home! My parents left to drive to Spartanburg shortly after our arrival. That night Ben ventured to Tilted Kilt, the Irish Pub that just opened near our house, while I hosted book club! Tyler, of course, was the only boy allowed at book club! He was the hit of the party, besides the delicious food!
It was a great end to a perfect weekend!

DC Trip 2010

After we all returned home from the beach, we were back into the swing of things! It was so nice having a week off for vacation, but it was a return to full chaos with nanny shares and work trips!
The house was full of babies as usual...Tyler and Nico (our nanny's son) have really started bonding and it so fun to watch them play together!
The week also included a trip to Ben's office so that his coworkers could see little Tyler, book club, and a quick trip to Alabama for work.
After I came back from my work trip, we were able to squeeze in one last lunch with Amanda before she headed off to Chicago, and that very same day we also took a trip to Urgent Care because our nanny, Lina, fractured her big toe at our house.
Talk about feeling terrible...but she is recovering nicely thanks to her walking cast!

Our weekend was chill (other than the trip to urgent care). Ben was able to get racquetball in on Saturday and I was able to get a spa day in on Sunday!
The following week it was back on the road as I headed to Raleigh for work. While in Raleigh, I received a phone call from Lina alerting me that my little man had finally decided to start crawling. I knew it was coming!!! Hooray for Tyler!!!
As a mom, you feel horrible for missing those pivotal moments, but I know there are lots of "firsts" that many parents miss.
As working parents, it's just not possible to be there every second...as much as we would like to!
But man, Tyler is motoring everywhere now!!! We can't stop him!

However, I did make it home in time for Tyler's 8 month birthday and his first airplane ride!
We headed to DC last week and had a great time visiting Ben's family!
Highlights included steak dinners, trips to the Smithsonian, a night out with our friends on Friday, brunch with friends on Saturday (they were all able to meet Tyler which was awesome), and a BBQ party with all of the neighbors and family friends on Saturday night.
Tyler was a rock star on the plane! Everyone complimented us on how well behaved he was (and how cute he was too)! Another highlight of the trip was when Tyler pulled himself up to standing for the first time...which I was happily present to see!!!

Thanks to Ben's parents for the hospitality and thank you to all of our friends who came to hang out with us!

Isle of Palms 2010

The Sullivan clan took it's first family vacation to Isle Of Palms, SC from July 31- Aug 7. What a blast!!! We had a great time and made some lifelong memories! We rented a beautiful Oceanfront Condo with enough room to accommodate Mommy, Daddy, Tyler, Nana, Papa, Aunt Kelly and Uncle Travis! Tyler had so much fun on the beach, and loved playing in the sand! Although the ocean was a bit scary for him at first, he ended up loving the waves!!!
There were many highlights of the trip including seeing my friends Leah and Jannell, going to the rooftop of Grill 225 in downtown Charleston for drinks, a day trip to Charleston to do some shopping at the Historic Markets, date night in Isle of Palms with beautiful water views and live music at Coconut Joe's, Shrimp Boils, wine on the patio, sunrise walks, and long days of lounging in the sun while trying to keep Tyler from eating too much sand! It was an amazing trip and I can't wait to go back next year!!!
