Snowed In...and our trip to Charlotte!

Wow!!! Just when you think things will slow down after the holidays...they find a way of picking right back up again! So after our weekend of birthday party fun, Atlanta got hit by the Great Snowpocalypse of 2011!!! We got around 5 inches of snow and ice and the city shut down for about a week! Ben worked from home and we literally couldn't get out of our driveway! We took advantage of the time by doing some early spring cleaning and having snowball fights...but after day 2, cabin fever set in! Let's just say that we were so excited to see the temperature sneak back up into the 50's on Friday, and the snow start to melt! After assessing the highways, we decided that our planned trip to Charlotte for MLK weekend was still on!!! We left on Friday and spent the night with my parents. Then Saturday, after lunch we headed up to Charlotte to spend time with some of our good friends from our UNC days! We stayed with Matt and Suzie and Tyler loved hanging out with their adorable twin boys Carson and Henry! (He was obsessed with their Little Tikes car and the boys highly enjoyed fighting over the driver's seat...see pics above)

Saturday night a sitter arrived to monitor the boys after they were fast asleep and Matt, Suzie, Ben and I hit the town! We had a DELICIOUS dinner at Cajun Queen restaurant! Some of the best Shrimp and Grits I've ever had! Sunday morning Suzie made French Toast and after Tyler's morning nap, we headed to a local Bistro to meet Ethan for lunch. Ethan is one of my best friends from high school so it was wonderful to catch up! He loved seeing Tyler.
Sunday night, Suzie invited a group of our friends over for Mexican Casserole, beer and poker! We had a blast and ended the night playing the hilarious game Quelf! I don't know who invented that game but it is so much fun! Ben might disagree however...just ask him about the wedgie he had to give himself!
It was so great spending time with Matt, Suzie, Rusty, Kristin, Walt, Christie, & all the kids! A big shout out to Matt and Suzie for their hospitality! I can't wait to do it again soon!

We arrived home Monday evening after a stop in Spartanburg for lunch with Nana, Papa, Aunt Kelly and Uncle Travis. We were exhausted but had a blast!

Birthdays and More!

After the craziness of the holidays wore off, I officially bid farewell to my company and have
become a Stay at Home Mom until a job offer comes through. Fortunately, I've had a lot of great interviews lately and am anticipating good news very soon! But in the meantime, it's been great staying home with Tyler and we've stayed really busy! I'm hoping he will take those first steps before I start a new job! He's so close to walking...at this point I think it's more mind over matter! He's a stubborn little man...just like his mama...and doesn't like to be rushed.

My first week as a stay at home mom included Tyler's 1 year check up, Lunch with Steph and Dylan, a playdate with Emma and Bella and a Family Pho Date Night! I also introduced Tyler to Kid's Club at the gym and he really likes it!

Tyler passed his 1 year check up on Tuesday with flying colors, coming in at the 95th percentile for height and the 85th percentile for weight! I'm very proud of my little man and he was a trooper for his 4 shots.

Saturday we spent the day shuttling Tyler between the birthday parties of his friends Roe and Amelia. He had a great time at both parties. The pics above show him at Amelia's party and playing with his party favors afterwards!
Saturday night we went to Fuddruckers and Tyler loved it! He downed his grilled cheese and fruit and even had his kids meal cookie! We were such the suburban family on Saturday night...Gotta love it!

Sunday we went to church and then I met Steph for a trip to the High Museum to see the Dali Exhibit. We had a great girlie time followed by wine afterwards while the boys (Ben, Tyler, Pay and Dylan) watched football!

What a great way to start off 2011!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We Wish You a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Well better late than never...Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!!!
We had a wonderful Christmas and New Year this year! After the craziness of Tyler's First Birthday wore off, things were in full swing for the holidays! Grandma Sullivan arrived into town on Tuesday afternoon (December 21st) to celebrate the holidays with us! She got to spend some quality time with Tyler while I finished up all of my work related stuff. Grandpa Sullivan and Aunt Kate arrived the evening of December 23rd. Christmas Eve included some shopping, a trip to the park, and a huge Christmas Eve dinner complete with Turkey, Dressing, Mashed Potatoes, Broccoli Casserole, Bread, Corn and Cranberry Sauce! I worked in the kitchen most of the day and everything turned out quite delicious if I do say so myself! Christmas morning Tyler awoke to a room full of presents. Santa definitely came to visit this year. Some of his favorite toys were his Special Agent Oso Whirlybird Toy and his Radio Flyer Wagon. I cooked a big Christmas Breakfast and then Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Kate headed to the airport so that Ben, Tyler and I could drive up to Spartanburg. We arrived to Nana and Papa's around noon...just in time to open presents, eat steak and baked potatoes for lunch and watch the snow start to fall! It was a Beautiful White Christmas this year and we enjoyed every minute of it! We are so grateful we got to spend the holidays with both families this year!

The day after Christmas, Ben and I headed back to Atlanta and Tyler stayed at Nana and Papa's for two days. Aunt Kelly was there to help as well and Tyler had a Ball!!!
He was spoiled rotten of course. Meanwhile, Ben and I slept in, went out to dinner, watched some movies, and had a few cocktails in between. I love my little Tyler more than life itself but have to admit that it was a great couple of days of "grown up time"! Tuesday I picked up Tyler in Commerce (the halfway point between Spartanburg and ATL). But we had just a couple of days in between before Nana and Papa came back to ATL to babysit on New Year's Eve. Ben and I had a wonderful New Years as we celebrated the wedding of our good friends Roberta and Mike. It was a beautiful wedding and we got to ring in the New Year in style! What a great time!
New Years Day we headed home from the hotel in time to take Nana and Papa to lunch for Chicago Style Pizza. They loved it!
The rest of the day was spent hanging low with our little man and taking lots of Advil! Ben and I celebrated the new year a little too hard!

Happy Holidays to one and ALL. May 2011 be good to each and every one of us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
