Borden's Bachelorette Weekend!

Me with the beautiful bride!!!
Sara, Christine, and Jenni

Me, Jackie D, and Laura

The bachelorette group!

This weekend I took a trip up to DC for my good friend Christine's shower and bachelorette party!
Friday night was a quiet date night spent at home with Ben. I cooked Stuffed Peppers and we watched a movie by the fire.
Saturday morning I was up bright and early for my flight to DC. I landed at National Airport at 11:30 where Jacqueline picked me up. From there we headed straight for the shower. The "black and white" shower theme was a lot of fun! The food (cake especially) was really delicious!
Once the shower was over, Jacqueline and I headed back to her house to get ready for our night on the town. I certainly needed a drink after UNC lost to Maryland. SO Depressing!

Jacqueline and I caught the metro to Downtown DC where we met up with everyone at the GW Inn. We debuted our "Amazing Race" tshirts for Christine and got her suited up in her bachelorette attire for the evening (complete with Amazing Race fanny pack). For dinner we went to M St. Bar and Grille. It was really a great meal! We took advantage of DC's restaurant week with an appetizer, entree, dessert and glass of wine for $35. Can't beat that!
After dinner we headed to the Black Cat for retro 80's night and then to Madhatter's!
From the pics above I think Christine had a great time!!!

Sunday, Jacqueline and I met up with Monica, Jill and Christina at Rhodeside Grill for brunch and then I was on a plane home.
(Side note: Rhodeside Grill is where Ben and I met!!!)

I got home on Sunday night just in time to host Steph M and Amanda for the Oscars!!! I heart the Oscars and I was very happy that Slumdog Millionaire won!!!
It was a very fun weekend indeed!!!

However...while the cat's away (me) the mice will play (Ben). While I was out partying it up with my ladies in DC this weekend, Ben was playing flag football and hosting a poker night with the boys. Apparently, the party continued to the wee hours of the morning!

Toula!!

Here are some pics of Amanda's dog Toula who I dog-sat last week! I bought her a tshirt at Petsmart that says "Being cute is my full time job"

How precious is that!!!

Viruses, Book Club, Doggy Day Care!!!

So just as Ben and I officially got over our respective cold/flu symptoms, I was hit with a nasty stomach bug this past weekend. But NO stomach flu was going to stop me from enjoying my Bone's steak on Saturday night or my movie and girl time with Amanda on Sunday...Again please reference the song "Nobody's Gonna Break my Stride" by Matthew Wilder (thanks for the correction Laura!).
As luck would have it, I passed the bug to Ben and he's been sick this week.
Today, we both feel much better (thank goodness) so we are guessing that it was a 24 hour type thing.
But the plus side to all this you ask????...The number on the scale this morning was one that I haven't seen in a very long time!
I'm going to continue to follow the "stomach flu" diet for as long as I can to see if I've created a multi-million dollar idea here!
Oh and did I mention my computer has a virus too (no joke)??? Apparently I'm more contagious than I thought!

Now onto my next topic...Book Club!!! Last night was our monthly book club meeting which was held at Susan's house.
It was a great time! We discussed A Thousand Splendid Suns over wine and a Mexican themed dinner! Next month's book is Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult! I can't wait to start reading it!
But I must get through the 3rd Twilight first!!!

My last topic of the day is Doggy Day Care!!! My usual work month involves me traveling at least once or twice. While my travel schedule in March and April will be quite hectic, I haven't had to travel for work since mid January. This is both a blessing and a curse. While I'm very happy to have the extra time at home with my husband, it can get a little lonely when you are working from home 5 days a week for 5 weeks straight.
When I was hanging with Amanda this weekend, an idea popped in my head and I offered to doggysit Toula during the day for her. Not only is it fun having a dog in the house, but she's super sweet and cute. I get to have her on Friday too! YAY for Doggy days!

I'll post pics of cutie Toula as soon as my computer isn't viral anymore! :(

Love is in the Air.... Everywhere you Look Around!!!

Very cute movie!!!
Pat and Ben goofing around with "blue balls" at the bowling alley!

Steph and I striking a "Staying Alive" pose during Cosmic Bowling!!!

Happy Valentines Day to everyone!!! I hope you all got lots of roses, chocolate, and cards expressing undying love! I received a luxury bathrobe and cute card from my hubby so I was a very happy wife indeed!!!
Here's a recap of our fun Vday weekend....

Friday night we went out to eat with Ben's coworker Chris and his wife Megan. We headed to Sugo in downtown Roswell. Ben and I have eaten there a couple of times and we absolutely love it! The meal was SO incredibly delicious and Chris and Megan loved it as well!! We actually can't wait to go back! I think it's a great place to take anyone that likes Italian food. The atmosphere is so quaint and intimate, the food is obviously excellent, and they have a great wine list too!

After dinner we ventured to the the Roswell Bowling Lanes where we met up with Steph and Pat! The six of us had a great time bowling and sharing some brews!!!
Some night I want to go back to the dingy little bar inside the bowling alley and do a little karaoke!
I think it would be hilarious to get up there and do a little Brittney Spears for all the beer guzzling, mullet sporting rednecks... BRING IT!!!
After bowling we said goodbye to Chris and Megan and headed to Mazzy's with Steph and Pat to play darts. Mazzy's is quickly becoming one of my favorite Roswell bars! It's so much fun!!!
We played until the bar closed and headed home at 2:30am...so much for a relaxing Friday evening! :)

Saturday I vegged in front of the TV and watched a bunch of cheesy chick flicks (my Valentine's present to myself..haha)! The Oxygen channel was showing Can't Buy Me Love and Love Actually...and I was glued!
Later we got ready for our Valentine's dinner date night at Bone's Steakhouse! The dinner was out of this world. Ben and I had been to Bone's last year to celebrate Ben's birthday and I couldn't wait to go back. The service is incredible and the steak literally melts in your mouth!!!
After dinner, Ben sweet talked his way out of seeing He's Just Not that into You. We compromised on watching a scary movie at home. We snuggled by the fire and watched Lakeview Terrace which was horrible ...blah!

Sunday I was up early and out the door to go meet Amanda. We had a date planned for lunch and a movie.
We went to Dunwoody Tavern where we drank some wine and chatted over lunch outside. It was a beautiful day so we wanted to take advantage of it!
Then we headed to mall where indulged ourselves in a little shopping spree....we wanted to get ourselves in the mood to see Confessions of a Shopaholic! The movie was adorable. I really really liked it! Definitely gets my nomination for a cute, fun chic flick!!!

Hope everyone else had a great Valentine's Weekend! And Happy Presidents Day!!!

This is why Duke Sucks!!!

My hero!!! Love you Psycho T!!!

Cry baby Cry...WAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!

Wednesday night Ben and I cheered the Tarheels onto victory against the DOOK Blue Devils! From the moment my boys ran onto the court in their baby blue jerseys I knew that they had the win in the bag!!! Yes, their were a few minutes in the first half where I was frightened that we might BLOW it. However, I should have never doubted the endurance and talents of the best team in the NCAA!!! Below is my list of reasons why UNC is (and always will be) better than Puke!

1. Our players are WAY Hotter!!!
That concludes my list...Thank you!

In the words of Michael Jackson....

"Tell me Why...Why" ARE YOU STILL ON AMERICAN IDOL?????

Ain't Nothing gonna Break my stride...Nobody's gonna slow me down!

Tennis Time on Sunday!

Ben trying to get frisky at Steel Bar and Lounge
Amanda and Chris trying to stay warm as the sun set in Atlanta during our wine crawl!

Pat, Steph, Aaron and Amanda at Marlows...our first stop on the wine crawl!

The "cold/sinus infection/upper respiratory infection" bug swept the Sullivan house this past week! Ben and I have both been really sick since Wednesday! I honestly haven't been to the doctor to get antibiotics in over 4 years but all I have to say is THANK HEAVEN for Urgent Care and a Z-pac! I hate being sick and I hate sitting at home doing nothing...so needless to say although I should have been home in bed, I decided to party it up on Saturday instead! Hey...I had been on antibiotics for 24 hours...I wasn't contagious anymore right?
Anyone that knows me, knows that I'm never one to pass up a good time! And in the words of Men at Work
Ain't nothing gonna break my stride
Nobody's gonna slow me down
Oh no, I've got to keep on moving
Ain't nothing gonna break my stride
I'm running and I won't touch ground
Oh no, I've got to keep on moving
We met up with Chris, Melissa, Amanda, Steph, Pat, and Aaron at Ecco Wine Bar at 2pm on Saturday to start out the 2009 Midtown wine crawl! There was quite the crowd there! Next stop...Marlow's to get some grub! After a nice lunch and a few rounds of drinks we headed over to Steel where we found a great area outside to sit and have Saki! After Steel we headed back to Ecco until the wine crawl finished up. By 7pm Ben, Steph, Pat and I ventured north towards Roswell for the evening. We finished up the night by having dinner and playing darts at Mazzy's. It was such a fun day, and although I wasn't feeling 100%, I'm certainly glad I made it out!
Sunday I had to drag my butt out of bed again to go play tennis. Ben and I had been on a tennis league for the past month but I have been scared to death to play all season since our entire team is really good and I...well suck! Yesterday I attempted to play my one match of the season. How did I do you ask? Well Bloodbath would be an understatement. I had no idea what I was doing and it showed!!! Ben and I will definitely be taking tennis lessons this spring so that I don't embarrass myself in the future. But on the plus side, at least I had my cute blue tennis skirt to wear!!

Weekend Update!

After our Twisted Taco bull riding excursion on Thursday, Ben and I decided that Friday evening would be spent in "recovery mode". We spent our Friday night just watching movies by the fire. It was great!
We watched Burn After Reading which I would give a rating of just...okay. I wasn't blown away by it but there were definitely some interesting moments and some really funny characters.

Saturday I went to the park to prep for my half marathon. 60 days and counting until the ING!!! I was SO proud of myself because I made it 9 miles! That is the longest I've ever run before...EVER! WOOHOOO!!!
Saturday night I needed to rest my legs, so Ben and I went to see Slumdog Millionaire which was really awesome!!! I don't know if I would list it as "Best Motion Picture of the Year Winner" but it definitely deserves the nomination. The movie is so inspiring and makes you realize how truly blessed we all are!
After the movie, we grabbed dinner at Figo Pasta. That definitely made for an interesting experience. You order at the front counter so it kind of has zero atmosphere...but the food was good...but not the best! Definitely not worthy of my "Best Pasta Meal EVER" award. I'll keep that one in my back pocket for another date night.

Sunday was a lazy morning spent catching up on chores and DVR. After a quick trip to the gym to burn off some of the calories we knew we would be consuming later, we went over to Steph and Pat's for their Superbowl/Pat's 30th Birthday party! We had a really great time!
Lots of beer and food and football...doesn't get much better than that!
Ben and I didn't win on Superbowl Squares but Ben did win with his bet on the Cardinals. The spread was 7.5 points so Ben walked away with a nice little chuck of change!!! Good job babe!
I have to say I'm not usually one to support regular sports gambling unless you are in Vegas...but Ben has made a very nice profit this season! His winnings paid for our new surround sound system, and the rest is going towards our Valentine's dinner at Bones Steakhouse. As long as he keeps walking away in the green then I say GO FOR IT BEN!!!! Hopefully he will have the same luck with March Madness!!!
Hope everyone else had fun celebrating Super Bowl Sunday!

Happy Trails to you!!! Have fun Down Under!!!

A Big Bon Voyage to our good friends Kim and Will! They are leaving Atlanta today and will be living in Australia for a few years!

Good luck guys...we wish you the best and we'll miss you!
