Football Filled Weekend!

This weekend was a lot of fun as we celebrated a Hokie win!

Saturday Ben and I went to a party thrown by our friends Channing and Angela. It was a Hokie football game viewing combined with a birthday party for their 1 year old son Ethan.

Ben and I had a great time hanging with our Hokie friends and I got to see Ben practice "Daddy Duty". It was very cute!

Sunday Ben and I went to our local bar Cold Brew to watch the Skins play the worst game EVER! But if the Gamecocks and Hokies have a good season then I guess that will compensate for the worthless capabilities of Jim Zorn!
On a positive note, I had the Vikings as my pick for my elimination pool this week. Brett Favre is now my hero with that touchdown in the last two seconds of the game!

Other highlights of the weekend included a trip to the Outlets where I scored my early bday present...a Kate Spade diaper bag! Ben won his first doubles tennis match of the season Saturday morning with his partner Amanda! And I attended another "save the date" party to help Melissa put the finishing touches on her STD's. It was great having some girl time and catching up!

Good Game, Good Game!!

Last night Ben and I met up with Andy and Angela at Buffalo Wild Wings to see the Gamecocks take on the Ole Miss Rebels!
I have to admit, as much as I love my Gamecocks, I was ready to place the victory flag in the hands of Mississippi.
Man was I wrong!

The Cocks played hard and strong and we BEAT Ole Miss by a fairly good margin! I was soooo proud of my school!!!
Next week we play South Carolina State which should be an easy win (fingers crossed) and bring our record for the season to 1 loss (boo GA) and 4 WINS!!!

I hope that Tyler will follow in his mothers footsteps and attend the greatest school on earth which is the UNIVERSITY of SOUTH CAROLINA! Although something tells me he'll have pressure to attend S. Carolina, UNC, VA TECH, or Georgia (in state tuition pressure there)!

Have a great weekend everyone! And YAY for football season!

Crazy Photo

This photo was also on the Atlanta newspaper website!!!
Check out the interstate in Atlanta!!!

Flood Watch 2009

The past 9 days in Atlanta have been very very rainy, and the next 9 days promise to produce much more!
It's come to the point where half of the schools in Atlanta are closed and most offices are letting their employees out early!
The pic above was submitted to the AJC Newspaper from Lawrenceville, GA. Don't believe how serious this is? Just visit CNN or the Weather Channel on the web.
Ben and I have decided to hunker down and "wade" out the flood to the best of our ability.

This weekend the rain slowed us down a bit but not much.
Friday night I went out with Amanda for a girls night at Sugo. We had tapas and dessert and waddled our "over stuffed" selves back to my place so that Amanda could see all of our cute baby stuff!
Saturday morning Ben and I were up early and off to Northside Hospital for the Hospital tour.
It was very informative and I was pleasantly surprised to see how big the birthing suites are! We even sneaked a glance or two at some cute little newborns.
Saturday afternoon I was really not feeling well. Tyler gave me serious heartburn on Friday night which kept me up. So I napped and watched movies while Ben went over to our friends Amy and John's to watch the VT game. Man...what a game! I couldn't believe the Hokies squeaked out that win!
Saturday night we ordered Chinese and hung low during the storms.
Sunday I went to get my nails done while Ben put together some baby furniture.
After nail time, I met Steph S at La Madeline for lunch and then she came over to see Tyler's room! We had a great time catching up.

Sunday night we headed over to Steph M and Pat's for a yummy pasta dinner and some catch up time. The boys watched football (don't get me started on how crappy the skins played on Sunday) and everyone had good times all around!

The flooding has unfortunately kept me from my final flying trip for work....no more Kansas City this week and now no more air travel until I return from maternity leave! Although it's not ideal that I'll miss my training this week, I have to admit that I'm excited to not be on a plane for awhile!

Have a safe and DRY week everyone!

Third Trimester HERE WE COME!!!

Today I've officially entered into my third trimester! Can you believe it?
It seems like only a month ago we were announcing that we were expecting! Time flies!!! And I hope it continues to go by fast because I'm ready to have this kid!!! Oh well...December will get here soon enough I'm sure.
But having 2 months left is a good thing actually...because although I'm eager to have Tyler here, I still have a lot of stuff to take care of before he graces us with his presence.

Today was my 27 week Doctor's appt. Next week I'll officially be 7 months.
Everything seemed to be great. Tyler's heartbeat was strong, and they did blood work to test for gestational diabetes. The results from that should be back by Monday.
Going forward, I'm now on a biweekly doc's appt rotation. Before, I was going only once a month. At 32 weeks I'll start going weekly.
The countdown is definitely on for Tyler's arrival!

Work in the nursery is almost complete. The furniture is all in place so now comes the hard part...getting organized. I plan to take on a big chunk of that task this weekend and uploading pics as soon as the nursery is complete!

It's amazing how much you do for your child before they are even born, and more importantly how in love you are with your little baby even before you see his face!
Can't wait til December!

Shower Weekend

Ben, Kate, and Jan at the Pig town festival

Busy, Busy week....
I went to Brownsville, TX for work which was short and uneventful...just the way I like it. At one point I got lost and almost ended up at the Mexican border with no passport! I wonder if they would have let me make a Uturn at the inspection station....thank God, I didn't have to find out!

Friday, Ben and I headed to DC!
What a LONG drive, but well worth it!

We got into town Friday evening in time to have dinner with Ben's parents.

Saturday, we went to Babies R Us to do a little shopping then headed into Baltimore to meet up with Ben's sister for some lunch. We went to an awesome Mediterranean place and then headed to the Pig Town Festival! It was hilarious watching the pigs race!

Saturday night, Ben and I ventured to Arlington where we met up with Kayte, Matt and Christina to watch the Gamecocks play. GO COCKS!!!! We didn't win against Georgia but we put a good fight.

Sunday was shower day! It was so much fun hanging out with everyone! I love DC Reunions!!!
A big thank you to everyone who showed up, and a bigger thank you to my Mother in Law, Caryn and Jacqueline for organizing! The theme of the shower was Nursery Rhymes complete with "Humpty Dumpty" deviled eggs, "3 little pig" Pork sandwiches, "3 blind mice" cheese platter, nursery rhyme trivia game, and much much more! I wish I had taken pictures, but I got caught up in the excitement and totally forgot. If anyone has pics of the day and can email them to me that would be great!

Monday morning Ben and I were up early and on the road by 9 so that we could make it back to GA at a reasonable hour.

Good times all around this weekend!

Happy Labor Day!!!

Shot of the Hokies at the GA Dome!
Ben and Chris found a $1 shot stand on the street!
Kristen, Ben, Toni and Chris at Stats!

Hope everyone out there had a very happy, fun and safe Labor Day!!! It was so great to have an extra day off from work!!!
Last week Ben and I had a lot going on as we prepped for the weekend! I had some extra duties come up at work so I was working late nights for most of the week! Tuesday and Wednesday Ben had his Fantasy Football drafts, so I went out with Steph on Tuesday night for some Greek and frozen yogurt!

Thursday night Ben and I went over to Andy and Angela's to watch our first game of college football season!!! GOOOOOO COCKS!!! Anastasia was there as well so it was fun to catch up with all my college peeps! It was a great game only because we won...but man, if the Cocks keep playing like they did on Thursday, we are going to have a LONG season ahead of us!

Friday night Ben and I went tailgate shopping for all the essential goodies that we would need for the big VA Tech vs. Bama game on Saturday!
Friday night around midnight our friends Chris and Toni arrived at our house! They drove in from Chapel Hill to cheer on the Hokies, and were able to get us great seats for the game! Saturday morning I cooked waffles for everyone! We hit the road around 12:30 and met up with Roberta, Mike, Amy, John, Angela, Channing and a bunch of VA Tech grads!
Our first stop? Stats! Stats is an awesome bar in downtown ATL and Mike wanted to go there to watch the BC game (that's his alma mater). We hung there for a couple of hours...the place was PACKED!!! Then we went to our tailgating spot where we ate a whole lot of food and played ladder ball until it was time to go to the game!
The game was a lot of fun, but I have to admit I sat down for most of it. Tyler was a little worn out from the day's festivities and he let me know it!
Of course we were disappointed in the Hokie loss but they still played a great game!
With traffic, we got home around 1:30am!
It was a LONG day but so much fun!

Sunday we said goodbye to Chris and Toni and left for Spartanburg. Sunday night my parents invited our old neighbors over for some burgers and fun! We had a blast catching up and it was great to see them! I got to see my "surrogate little brother" Clay who I hadn't caught up with since my wedding!
After everyone left we hung out with my parents and sis for awhile! My mom, dad, and sister all got to feel Tyler kick for the first time. They were very excited!
Monday Ben and I visited with my grandma and then headed home!
There was a good bit of traffic but we made it in just over 3 hours!

Happy Labor Day to all!!!!

Murder Mystery Weekend!!!

Sweet baby girl Bella!!!
Ben as Ralph Rottingrape and Kristen as Marilyn Merlot

The girls in costume...Roberta, Angela, Amy and Kristen

The boys in costume....John, Mike, Channing and Ben

This weekend Ben and I dogsat for Pat and Steph's baby Shih-Tzu Bella so they could go visit family in Tampa! It was definitely a fun experience and I can't wait to get a dog for our family once Tyler gets old enough.
Bella was very well behaved the whole weekend and was very clingy to me at night and during thunderstorms. It was very endearing though...she's really an adorable little dog (see pic above). Ben took to calling her Gizmo, and I have to admit she does look like a mix between a Gremlin and the Ewoks from Star Wars! So cute!

Friday night Ben and I hung low and finished up Mad Men Season 1. We are trying to catch up on both seasons of Mad Men so that we can watch this season on TV. I've heard good things about the show and so far it's been very good! We also wanted to get Bella familiar with her temporary surroundings so we didn't leave home that night!

Saturday Bella and I went for a walk in the park! I then came home and started to get our costumes organized for that night's Murder Mystery Themed Dinner Party that our friends Mike and Roberta were hosting!
I had never been part of a murder mystery party so I didn't know what to expect, but let me be the first to say it was a BLAST!!! Everyone had a character (the invitation told you in advance who your character was and how to dress) and we played out different scenes giving away clues and accusing other people of the murder. It's all scripted so it was very easy to follow! A narrated CD along with a FBI Agent (Mike) helped move the scenes along! We all really got into it and were shocked to find out the actual killer! I can tell you right now, I certainly didn't guess who it was!
My character was Marilyn Merlot (famous starlet) and Ben was Ralph Rottingrape (bad boy extraordinaire)!
The whole night was a blast! We met a lot of fun people and I can't wait to host one myself someday!!! Thanks for having us over Roberta and Mike!!!

Sunday Ben finished up on baby furniture assembly while I went over to Melissa's to help her with her save the dates! The final product ended up looking great! I can't wait to post my save the date on my fridge when it comes in the mail!
Pat and Steph came by to get Bella Sunday night! Although I know she missed them, I think she was a bit sad to leave her new favorite aunt and uncle!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
