Wow!!! Just when you think things will slow down after the holidays...they find a way of picking right back up again! So after our weekend of birthday party fun, Atlanta got hit by the Great Snowpocalypse of 2011!!! We got around 5 inches of snow and ice and the city shut down for about a week! Ben worked from home and we literally couldn't get out of our driveway! We took advantage of the time by doing some early spring cleaning and having snowball fights...but after day 2, cabin fever set in! Let's just say that we were so excited to see the temperature sneak back up into the 50's on Friday, and the snow start to melt! After assessing the highways, we decided that our planned trip to Charlotte for MLK weekend was still on!!! We left on Friday and spent the night with my parents. Then Saturday, after lunch we headed up to Charlotte to spend time with some of our good friends from our UNC days! We stayed with Matt and Suzie and Tyler loved hanging out with their adorable twin boys Carson and Henry! (He was obsessed with their Little Tikes car and the boys highly enjoyed fighting over the driver's seat...see pics above)
Saturday night a sitter arrived to monitor the boys after they were fast asleep and Matt, Suzie, Ben and I hit the town! We had a DELICIOUS dinner at Cajun Queen restaurant! Some of the best Shrimp and Grits I've ever had! Sunday morning Suzie made French Toast and after Tyler's morning nap, we headed to a local Bistro to meet Ethan for lunch. Ethan is one of my best friends from high school so it was wonderful to catch up! He loved seeing Tyler.
Sunday night, Suzie invited a group of our friends over for Mexican Casserole, beer and poker! We had a blast and ended the night playing the hilarious game Quelf! I don't know who invented that game but it is so much fun! Ben might disagree however...just ask him about the wedgie he had to give himself!
It was so great spending time with Matt, Suzie, Rusty, Kristin, Walt, Christie, & all the kids! A big shout out to Matt and Suzie for their hospitality! I can't wait to do it again soon!
We arrived home Monday evening after a stop in Spartanburg for lunch with Nana, Papa, Aunt Kelly and Uncle Travis. We were exhausted but had a blast!
